Physical silence, absence.
This partially realised project is an attempt to break the female body down into separate organs. The uterus, stomach and lungs are recreated from thousands of glass beads — the internal and the living become fragile, almost weightless forms. Each organ becomes still, gradually losing its function.
Working with the organs became the starting point for NANIZANO — an exploration of fragility, materiality and emptiness, and an attempt to give physical form to what is usually impossible to see or hold.
How it is made
An organ almost never looked at head-on. Here it sits at eye level, at the size it would take in two hands, made of the material necklaces are made of. Blue inside, pink at the edges: the colours are not anatomical, they are the ones at hand. Every bead is stitched separately.
