In this work the tear becomes a material continuation of an inner state. Beaded drops stitched directly onto the canvas blur the boundary between image and reality, turning an invisible experience into a physical form. The title refers to the process of sedimentation — a feeling gradually falling out of the inner world and becoming matter. The tear becomes a sign of an ongoing feeling, something that cannot be fully expressed or contained.
How it is made
The face is painted; the tears are not — they are beadwork, they come off the surface, you could touch them. Painting knows how to fake volume; embroidery does not fake it, it has it.
