objects

Objects in beadwork — organs, eyes, tears.

Slow, close, tactile — an intimate, chamber feeling, with space for sound, voice and small gestures.

The evening · Sun 6 Sept

The first night: organs sewn in glass beads, clay in Alessandra's hands, Dmytro's saxophone and flute, and ARTËM's set until ten.

On 6 September the room opened for the first time. On the walls, the organs: hearts, lungs, a womb, a stomach, eyes and drops, sewn one bead at a time. The lungs are a hundred and sixty-five centimetres and hang free, without a frame.

At seven Alessandra BB began "30 attempts to keep the form": half an hour with raw clay in her hands, thirty figures that hold only as long as someone holds them. Then Dmytro Grytskyy played saxophone and flute, and ARTËM closed the night with an ambient set.

Ksenia walked people through the works twice and answered what they asked: how many beads are in one eye, how long a heart takes, what happens when the thread breaks.

The beadwork stayed in the room for the next chapter as well.

30 Attempts to Hold a Form

I take a single piece of raw clay and every minute I make a new form from it, then destroy it and begin again. With each repetition the material keeps traces of its previous state — touches, deformations, cracks. The thirtieth form is the one I leave. I work to a steady sound signal. What interests me is not the restoration of a lost wholeness — it is the idea of wholeness as a temporary state. There is no final form at all: only an endless sequence of changes.
